All charts listed are National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration of the US Department of Commerce (NOAA) charts.  All are printed on sturdy paper and are one-sided.  Chart physical dimensions are approximately 3 feet by 3 feet 8 inches.  Look in the lower left hand corner of each chart to determine the date printed.   All changes as advertised in the weekly Local Notice to Mariners will be included on the chart up to the date printed.  Later changes may be found at http://chartmaker.ncd.noaa.gov/staff/charts.htm

To better understand the "scale" of these charts, a scale 1:40,000, means that 1 inch on the chart is equal to 40,000 inches of actual distance.  The chart with the "lowest" scale will depict the greatest chart detail.  For example, a chart at a scale of 1:10,000 will be more detailed than a chart at 1:40,000.

A word of caution concerning all charts.  Considerable effort and expense goes into preparing charts, but they are not meant to contain all current information.  Buoys can drift off station, or storms can profoundly effect shoaling.  It is the prudent mariner that obtains a chart for his/her area of boating and then develops "local knowledge" of conditions to insure a safe boating experience.  We hope you would do the same.

Local marine weather and tides can be obtained at this website by "clicking" on Marine Weather.  Off-Shore sea conditions can be obtained by scrolling down to "Station Information" and enter 44009.  National Buoy System buoy 44009 is located approx. 16 miles due east of Fenwick Island Delaware.  Sea conditions there would approximate those off-shore at Ocean City, Maryland.
